The History of Heights Lodge #633
In 1904 Cleveland Heights became a Village in its own right, having progressed from being a Hamlet of the Township of East Cleveland. Historically it was comprised in good measure by the Euclid Golf Allotment, Ambelside Heights, Euclid Heights Allotment and the Rockefeller Estate, from which Forest Hills Park and the lot containing the new Masonic Temple came. Cleveland Heights did not become an actual city until 1921.
In 1915 Heights Lodge #633 was working at Woodward Temple (East 105th and Euclid Ave.) under a dispensation after 107 Masons signed a petition to start the new Lodge. On October 23, 1916 Heights Lodge #633 was duly constituted when the M.W.G.M. presented the Charter to WM, Wm. Bogue with the other officers namely C.A. Tilden, SW; E.A. Feasel, JW; A.B. Breitweg, Secretary and H.G. Mansfield, Treasurer. The Heights Masonic Temple was completed and consecrated in December of that same year.

No history can live until it is put into proper context. Cleveland Heights was a new and growing village in the early 20th century. Recent streetcar lines and the advent of the increasingly affordable automobile created the climate that allowed the garden community of Cleveland Heights to attract many prominent and well-to-do citizens of Cleveland. An influx of progressive, well educated professionals, set the stage for the development of a strong and highly regarded Lodge, noted for it's excellent degree work and state-of-the-art Temple.
These resources may assist in painting a larger picture of the climate that gave rise to Heights Lodge.
